Samsung has begun rolling out the One UI 9 beta to Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra owners in select international markets this week. The update brings early Android 17 features and includes a handful of useful tweaks that make your phone easier to customize and safer to use.
What New Features Matter for Ghana Buyers
The headline feature: resizable Quick Panel widgets. You know that panel you pull down to adjust brightness or sound? Now you can make those buttons bigger or smaller, and rearrange them to suit your thumb. It’s a feature iPhone users have had for years, and Samsung finally borrowed it.
Beyond that, there’s tidying-up in Samsung Notes (new pen styles and decorative tapes), a personalized profile card you can edit when calling contacts, and a few accessibility boosts. If you use a mouse with your phone in DeX mode (turning your Galaxy into a desktop), cursor speed adjustment and text magnification now work better.
Security Gets Smarter
Your phone will now warn you when it spots risky apps, and can automatically block them from installing or running until you get a security patch. Samsung also merged some of its TalkBack accessibility features with Android’s standard screen reader, so visually impaired users get better support out of the box.
Be clear: this beta is light on flashy features. Samsung says it will pack in much more when it launches new flagship phones later in 2026, particularly upgrades to “Galaxy AI” (its AI assistant features). Think of this as a warm-up before the real event.
Can You Get It in Ghana?
The beta is currently available in select international markets, though specific country availability has not been officially detailed by Samsung. Ghana does not appear to be included in the initial rollout. If you own a Galaxy S26, S26+, or S26 Ultra and live in a supported market, you can sign up via the Samsung Members app.
What to watch: If you’re thinking of buying a Galaxy S26 soon, this beta shows what features are coming. Samsung is expected to expand the One UI 9 experience when it launches its next flagship devices later this year. Check the Samsung Members app if you’re curious to test it early.
