Sending money has become very easy and fast with MTN MoMo. Always remember that the first step to sending money is to load sufficient money in your wallet.

How to load your MTN MoMo wallet (Cash In)

  1. Go to your nearest Mobile Money Authorised Merchant.
  2. Hand over cash to Merchant.
  3. Merchant enters your MTN number, repeats your MTN number, the amount, Merchant’s user ID and Mobile Money PIN.
  4. The system will debit the Merchant’s Mobile Money Wallet and credit yours. You will receive a confirmation message of the successful loading.

Transfer Money to a Mobile Money Wallet (P2P)

  1. Make sure you have sufficient money in your Mobile Money Wallet.
  2. Go to “Mobile Money” menu, select “Transfer Money” and “Mobile User.”
  3. Enter and repeat receiver’s mobile number, amount, reference e.g. “Gift from Peter” (optional), confirm details and enter Mobile Money PIN.

You will receive a confirmation message of the successful transfer.

Transfer Money to a Non Mobile User (A2C)

  1. Make sure you have sufficient money in your Mobile Money Wallet.
  2. Go to “Mobile Money” menu, select “Transfer Money” and “Non Mobile User.”
  3. Enter amount, secret code, repeat secret code, confirm details and enter Mobile Money PIN. You will receive via SMS a token (a 12-digit serial number). Communicate the token and secret code to the receiver to cash out the money from a Mobile Money Authorised Merchant.

Money transfer from Merchant to Non-Mobile User (C2C)

  1. Grab a valid photo ID and go to a Mobile Money Authorized Merchant.
  2. Hand over cash to the Merchant.
  3. Merchant will enter your ID number and the amount.
  4. You will enter and repeat secret code.
  5. Merchant will enter user ID and Mobile Money PIN.
  6. System will generate a token (12 digit serial number) which is given to you.
  7. You must give the token and secret code to the receiver to cash money.
