Samsung wide foldable July 22 — Samsung will launch its new wide foldable on July 22nd

Samsung is launching a brand new foldable phone on July 22nd — and this one has a completely different shape from what you’ve seen before.

If you’ve been curious about foldable phones but thought Samsung’s current options looked too tall and narrow when folded, this new model might change your mind. Samsung calls it a “wide” foldable, meaning it’ll be shorter and wider than the Galaxy Z Fold phones you see in Ghana today.

What’s actually different?

Right now, Samsung makes two main foldables: the Flip (which opens like a makeup compact) and the Fold (which opens like a book). Both have a specific shape. The new phone adds a third option — imagine a book that’s wider and less tall when it’s closed. That’s closer to what Huawei already sells.

The announcement came with a teaser showing a torn ticket stub. Shorter ticket = shorter, wider phone. That’s Samsung’s way of hinting at the new form factor.

What else is Samsung announcing?

The July 22nd event in London will probably include updated versions of the existing Flip and Fold phones (possibly renamed to Z Fold 8 Ultra to differentiate it from the new form factor). New smartwatches are also expected.

What does this mean for you in Ghana?

If you’ve been considering a foldable but worried the current Fold feels awkward to hold, the wider version might feel more natural. Foldables in Ghana are expensive, but this gives you more choice.

The wider design also makes it easier to use the phone when it’s half-folded, since the screen will have more usable width.

When will it reach Ghana?

Pricing and exact availability in Ghana aren’t confirmed yet. Check with local retailers after July 22nd for updates on when the new models will arrive.

What to do now: If you’re interested in foldables, wait until July 22nd to see the full specs and prices before buying.

Galaxy Unpacked starts at 9am ET on July 22nd.
