YouTube raked in $15 billion in advertising revenue in 2019:
YouTube’s parent company, Alphabet, has announced the video-sharing website’s yearly advertising revenue for the first time in history, and it is huge. Last year, ad revenue for YouTube topped $4.72 billion in the last quarter and $15 billion for the entire year. That is way higher than the revenue from 2018 which is a decent growth compared to its more established Search business.
Google parted with $1.65 billion for YouTube when it bought the website back in 2006, making it one of the biggest acquisitions in the history of technology alongside Facebook’s purchase of Instagram, also for around $1 billion.
Alphabet CFO. Ruth Porat said, “To provide further insight into our business and the opportunities ahead, we’re now disclosing our revenue on a more granular basis, including for Search, YouTube ads and Cloud.”
