For sure, 2019 is going to be the year of punch-hole selfie cameras. After the notches, the punch-hole cameras are seen to be the trending mobile phone feature. Just this week a published Xiaomi patent revealed that they may make a phone with a dual punch-hole selfie camera.
Currently, a few major smartphone makers in the game. They include Samsung and Honor (sub-brand of Huawei). The published Xiaomi patent hints that the company could be another phone maker to bring out phones with punch-hole displays.
According to a report from LetsGoDigital, the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO) has granted Xiaomi a patent. And the patent reveals a Xiaomi smartphone have two punch-hole cameras on the front side of the phone. The cameras are fancifully positioned on both the top left and right corners.
The patent lays out other Xiaomi smartphone designs with the dual punch-hole cameras. All these designs come with different placements of the necessary sensors such as proximity or lighting, etc.

The designs appear to have thin bezels, and the screen makeup is set to provide the best display experience.
The two punch-hole cameras on the front side might offer a “much-wider wide-angle lens”. Also. The position of the dual selfie camera could provide a better depth sensing for 3D image capturing and better facial recognition.
In spite of all this, Xiaomi hasn’t officially made any announcements on the other details regarding the patent.
Fossbytes predicts that “if at all the patent gets integrated into a future Xiaomi smartphone, it is expected to arrive with the alleged Mi Mix 4”. This prediction is due the Mi Mix series being known for its bezel-less smartphones.
It may be just a rumour
