WhatsApp is inarguably the most popular instant chatting app to have been developed and since its introduction in January 2009, it has grown to be the ultimate chat app.
WhatsApp Messenger which is a freeware and cross-platform messaging and Voice over IP(VoIP) service owned by Facebook has confirmed that it will be stopping support for several smartphones by the end of this year.
The company has updated its support page with the list of phones that will not work on WhatsApp from December 31, 2018.

The company has also released a list of smartphones that will stop receiving updates from 31st of December 2018. Below is the list of devices that will stop receiving support from WhatsApp by the end of December 31, 2018.
The smartphone which will stop receiving support for WhatsApp is Nokia S40, however, the WhatsApp support for Android 2.3.7 and older will be stopped by February 1, 2020. On the other hand, iOS 7 and older OS will be supported until February 1, 2020, only.
WhatsApp is suggesting their users to upgrade to the new versions or at least devices running on Android 4.0 (or above), iOS 8 (or above) and Windows Phone 8.1 and above.
