After working on this fresh color scheme for more than 12 months, WhatsApp has officially launched its dark mode for every user all across the globe. With this fresh feature, users’ eyes can relax more as they no longer need to be bothered about the harsh glare from their phone screens.
The messaging platform revealed this in a recent statement, “We are very excited to update WhatsApp with the most requested feature from our users everywhere – dark mode. When designing dark mode we spent time researching and experimenting with a focus on two particular areas: Readability and Information Hierarchy.”
WhatsApp added, “We wanted to help users easily focus their attention on each screen. We did this by using color and other design elements to make sure the most important information stands out.”

If you are an Android 10 and iOS 13 user, the dark mode can be enabled in system settings. As soon as you install the most recent version of the app, WhatsApp will automatically transition to Dark Mode. Android 9 and below users have to access WhatsApp Settings > Chats > Theme > and choose “Dark.”
