The Senate’s $2 trillion coronavirus economic bailout bill will make every Uber and Lyft driver, whose livelihood has been affected during the pandemic, smile again.
There is hope for them all because a provision in the Senate’s coronavirus stimulus bill, under a section called Pandemic Unemployment Assistance, makes contractors, freelancers, and other self-employed workers eligible for unemployment insurance.

No idea how much cash per week each driver will qualify for, but the bill says any amount would be equivalent to what they would have received from their state unemployment programs if they were a full-time worker who qualified for regular unemployment insurance.
However, the bill still has to pass the House of Representatives before it reaches President Trump’s desk for it to become law.
