Telefonika, the phone and electronics retailer that has been operating in Ghana for over 20 years, just opened a new branch in Cantonments, Accra. If you buy a phone, speaker, charger, or accessory there and something goes wrong, they promise to fix it or replace it under warranty.
For Ghanaians who have ever bought a phone and then hit a snag two months later only to be told “warranty expired” or “not our problem,” this is worth knowing about.
What Telefonika’s warranty promise actually covers
The company’s pitch is straightforward: if you buy something from them and it develops a fault, they will not just take your money and disappear. They will handle the repair or replacement.
That is different from how many informal tech markets work, where you buy a phone, get a receipt, and if it breaks next week, the seller is hard to find.
Why this matters for you
When you buy electronics in Ghana, after-sales service often feels like an afterthought. A phone that stops charging, a speaker that crackles, or a charger that dies early can turn into a real headache if there is no one to turn to.
Having a clear warranty and a brick-and-mortar store where you can walk in and get help removes that stress. You know where to go.
Most of Telefonika’s stock comes from their suppliers (goods are not Ghana-made), but that is typical for phone retailers here. What sets them apart is the follow-up after you pay.
What you should do
If you are in Cantonments or nearby and thinking of buying a phone or accessories, visit the new store or ask about their warranty terms before you buy. Get it in writing. And if you live closer to one of their other branches, the same warranty promise applies across all of them.
Keep receipts. Always. That is your proof of purchase if you need to claim warranty later.
