Tecno has finally locked in a launch date for the Pova 8 5G: June 11 at noon India time. The phone will debut in India first, but it’s likely headed to Ghana within weeks.
Here’s what matters for you: this phone is built for people who hate running out of battery.
The battery you’ve been waiting for
The Pova 8 5G has an 8,000mAh battery — one of the biggest on any phone right now. To put that in perspective, an 8,000mAh battery represents significantly more capacity than many current smartphones offer, and should comfortably last through heavy daily use: video streaming, gaming, WhatsApp, browsing — all without the mid-afternoon panic charge.
According to its FCC certification, it charges at 45W, which is decent but not blazing fast.
The rest of the specs
The Pova 8 5G runs a MediaTek Dimensity 7100 processor, comes with 6GB or 8GB of RAM, and 128GB or 256GB of storage. It ships with Android 16 straight out of the box.
The design includes a small dot-matrix display on the back (a grid of tiny lights built into the camera island), inspired by Nothing’s design language. It’s a gimmick, but it looks cool.
What this means for Ghana
Tecno phones tend to be priced aggressively in Ghana, and if you’re someone who lives on your phone, the 8,000mAh battery capacity is likely to be a genuine selling point.
What to do next
The June 11 launch is in India only. Watch for Tecno Ghana or local retailers to announce availability in the coming weeks. If you’re in the market for a phone with serious battery endurance, this one is worth the wait.
