A Gender-based NGO, Ufeministi is pushing for Government to enact laws that will punish spouses who deny their partner’s sex. According to them, sex deprivation in marriages is a form of domestic violence and a major source of violence in many homes.
According to the president of the judicial service staff association of Ghana (JUSSAG), Alex Nartey who presented the report on Tuesday, August 20, 2019, a wife or husband refusing sex should be seen as an offence because it has so many effects on the partner, the home, and the marriage.
This comes after DOVVSU, asked husbands to report wives who wear jeans to bed because it is a form of emotional abuse in July 2019.
However, the regional coordinator DOVSSU for Volta and Oti region has challenged this position saying that, making this a criminal offence is not the best way to go.
