Samsung One UI 9 update — Samsung begins testing One UI 9 for three more Galaxy smartphones

Samsung is now testing One UI 9, its new software update, on three affordable Galaxy phones: the A17 5G, A34, and A57. If you own any of these models in Ghana, here’s what you need to know.

What is One UI 9 and why does it matter?

One UI 9 is Samsung’s custom version of Android 17. Think of it as the operating system refresh that controls how your phone looks, feels, and runs. Samsung has already released beta updates to its flagship S26 series phones, and now it’s expanding to mid-range Galaxy A models that many Ghanaian users own.

Updates like this usually bring performance improvements, better battery life, security patches, and new features. For most users, an update means your phone runs smoother and stays safer.

Which Samsung Galaxy phones are getting tested?

Samsung is currently testing One UI 9 on three models: the Galaxy A17 5G (entry-level), Galaxy A34 (mid-range), and A57 (also mid-range). These are popular, affordable phones in Ghana.

The company is testing internal beta versions right now, which means the software isn’t ready for regular users yet. Samsung usually releases a public beta test phase after internal testing, giving users a chance to try the update early and report bugs.

When will Ghana users get One UI 9?

There’s no official release date yet. Samsung said it hopes to roll out the public beta “in the coming weeks,” but that’s a vague timeline. Once beta testing completes, the full update typically follows within a few months.

Samsung’s upcoming folding phones (the Z Flip8, Z Fold8, and Z Fold8 Ultra, rumored to launch on July 22, 2026) will reportedly launch with One UI 9 already installed. After that, updates usually roll out to flagship phones first, then mid-range and budget models. So Galaxy A users may wait a few months longer than S26 owners.

What should you do now?

If you own a Galaxy A17 5G, A34, or A57, there’s nothing to do yet. Keep your phone updated with regular security patches, and watch for an official announcement from Samsung Ghana about One UI 9 beta availability. When it arrives, you can choose to join the beta test early or wait for the final stable release.

Make sure you have a stable internet connection when the update becomes available, as system updates can be large downloads.
