Telecommunications operators in Nigeria now pay more than forty different taxes and levies to several agencies of governments at federal, state and local government levels. These taxes, according to them, are hampering their expansion drive across Nigeria, and also restricting digital inclusion and mobile penetration.
They added that things could get worse for operators and consumers if the planned 9 percent Communications Service Tax (CST) presently undergoing scrutiny at the National Assembly finally becomes law.
