Over the years of competitive participation in Ghana’s telecommunications industry, MTN Ghana has been able to maintain its unbeatable market share. The company has been relentlessly working to improve its service delivery, influencing its market share growth over the years.
As Ghana’s largest telecommunications network, MTN Ghana has to its firm grip over 55.2% market share of the telecom industry. At the recently held annual general meeting of shareholders, MTN Ghana’s CEO, Selorm Adadevoh, described this as a strong performance delivered by the company.
MTN Ghana rolled out various customer value management (CVM) initiatives, pro-consumer activities and improvement of its network, which greatly influenced its market growth.

MTN Ghana’s subscriber base increased from 2.3% to 22.6 million, with a voice market share increment of 55.2%. Data subscribers increased by 28.6% to 20.1million, which also indicated that active data subscribers increased by 26.6% to 8.1 million. The entire data market share of MTN Ghana increased to about 71.7%.
One of the company’s largest revenue sources, MTN Mobile Money (MoMo) also witnessed immense growth. MoMo subscribers increased by 10.6% to 15.1 million, with active MoMo subscribers witnessing an increase of 10.6% to 9.1 million. MTN Ghana also transacted a share of 98.0% of Ghana’s total mobile money transactions.
