The much-awaited second version of the iPhone SE will soon be released, according to sources quoted in a Bloomberg report. Previously, it was unknown how the new Apple smartphone will be named though Apple analyst, Ming Chi Kuo, had predicted it will be launched in March 2020.
The Bloomberg report however revealed that the new Apple smartphone will be named iPhone 9. This iPhone 9 will be a mid-range device as it is an upgrade to 2016’s iPhone SE, which was a lower-end device.
According to the report, the phone will have a design like that of the iPhone 8 with a Touch ID home button. The screen will measure 4.7 inches but it will have the iPhone 11’s A13 Bionic chipset.
There will be a single rear camera on the iPhone 9, as suggested by the report. Apple is said to avoid adding features like advanced cameras and Face ID so the phone can stay within the mid-range zone.
The price is rumoured to start at $399, which is around Gh¢ 2,200.
Apple’s lower-cost model has been in the news for long. From 2017, a year after the original iPhone SE was released, customers have been calling for an upgrade. For now, we only have to remain hopeful that Apple meets the expectations of users who are yearning for an upgrade.
