Ama is the only daughter of the Amankwaa family. When she turned 13, her dad entered her room when she was dressing up for school. Subconsciously, she picks up the towel she had shed on the bed to cover her nakedness.
“Oh dad, you should have knocked.” She requested shyly
“Don’t worry Ama,” her dad advanced towards her, “A lot of girls your age won’t mind their fathers seeing their nakedness.”

Ama was horrified and flinched as her dad touched her shoulders and then her breast. She was too shocked to scream. Mr. Amankwaa left the room after warning her not to tell any soul about what had happened.
Ama was left in a limbo; she didn’t know what to do. A once bright student started losing concentration in class.
Her father took his deeds a step further when her mum went for all night service on Friday evenings. He forcefully had sex with her. She was shattered. Her virginity has been broken by a man she loved and admired. The physical pain was nothing as compared to the psychological trauma she was going through. She felt dirty. She felt used. She felt helpless.
Fridays became her worst nightmare since her dad continued his deeds unabated. Her mother saw changes in her daughter and started accusing her of being a bad girl.
“You have started being a bad girl Ama,” she will taunt, “I will tell your father about this”
Ama’s mum didn’t take time to ask her daughter what was bothering her but instead resulted to accusing her and meting out harsh treatment to her at home. Ama learnt to keep things to herself because of her mother’s attitude.
Her class teacher, Mrs. Asante, realized Ama’s grades and concentration level in class had changed. She became alarmed and asked Ama of what was wrong. Ama being scared of her reaction didn’t divulge any information to her. She rather confided in her best friend, Akua, who in turn reported to their class teacher.
Mrs. Asante called for with Mrs. Amankwaa. She told her what Mr. Amankwaa has been subjecting Ama to. This came as a rude awakening for her even though she didn’t believe her ears. Mrs. Asante advised she come home earlier than usual on Friday for them to prove the truth or otherwise of the story.
Lo and behold, she came to meet her husband forcibly have carnal knowledge of her helpless daughter. She screamed her lungs out at the scene that welcomed her. She was in shock.
Fast forward, a family meeting was called and Mr. Amankwaa was reprimanded by the Abusuapanyin. Mrs. Amankwaa was begged to stay in the marriage because of her child. Ama was told, “This is an internal family matter, and this shouldn’t go out of the four walls of this building.”
“You keeping quiet will keep this family together. You will break the family apart if you tell any other soul.”
“Just make sure you are not left alone in the house with your father.”
Mr. Amankwaa continued to have his way with Ama.
