eSports and football loving fans in Ghana will have the opportunity to enjoy the best of eSports action, in an event dubbed “Rep Ur Jersey“, before the commencement of the UEFA Champions league finals this Saturday.

The event is being organised by Hitz FM and eSports Association on the 1st of June, 2019 and will commence at precisely 12pm at the Aviation Social Centre.

The Rep Ur Jersey event will be a precursor to the much anticipated UEFA Champions League finale between Liverpool F.C and Tottenham Hotspur F.C which will be streamed lived at the Aviation Social centre.

The eSports Rep Ur Jersey event will see the best gamers across the country representing their respective European teams in a FIFA 19 battle. The top four participants will automatically qualify for the Africa eSports championship which will be hosted by Kenya later in August.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with JBKlutse, the president of the eSports association, Ebenezer Kwesi Hayford, indicated that the organisation of such events would help in advancing the course of eSports in the country.

“The eSports industry in Ghana needs exposure through events such as the HitzFm Rep Ur Jersey,” said Kwesi Hayford. “We are very positive that with the love that many Ghanaians, especially the youth, have for the Uefa Champions league we will be able to reach a lot of people in our attempt to promote eSports in the country.

“Obviously, the Champions League has a huge following, so it is a very good avenue to engage new gamers and also to build a strong relationship with traditional media houses like Hitz FM to promote eSports in the country”.

The organisation of this event indicates the bond that is gradually developing between traditional football and its electronic version across the globe. A classic class scenario is the ePremier league tournament which was organised earlier this year for the 20 clubs in the premier.
