One really cool thing about HMD is that it quickly provides the latest Android updates for its Nokia-branded smartphones. Even when they are mid-range or budget phones, HMD does well to do right by everybody. In a tweet posted earlier today, the company revealed the roadmap for when its Nokia devices will be receiving the latest Android Pie update — and it shows that by early Q2 2019, every device with the exception of Nokia 2, should have it.
Revealing our Android Pie update roadmap! We were the fastest in deploying Android Oreo ? 8.0 and 8.1 portfolio wide, with Android Pie ? we are committed to be even faster. 15 handsets were listed, and out of that number, five of them (the Nokia 7 Plus, 6.1, 6.1 Plus, 7.1 and 5.1 Plus) have already received the update. Updates for the Nokia 8 Sirocco and Nokia 8 are ongoing, with the last eight due to be released over this quarter and the next.
The complete list of phones, along with the expected dates for their Android Pie update releases is as follows:
- Nokia 5: Jan 2019
- Nokia 3.1 Plus: Jan 2019
- Nokia 6: Q1 2019
- Nokia 5.1: Q1 2019
- Nokia 3.1: Q1 2019
- Nokia 2.1: Q1 2019
- Nokia 3: Early Q2 2019
- Nokia 1: Early Q2 2019
Although software roadmaps, can be subject to change, HMD’s quick progress so far suggests that there won’t be too many problems to encounter.
