Facebook recently came out to say that it will begin to label posts from popular accounts with their geographic origin to help the social media platform reduce political misinformation by international-based pages that pretend to be legitimate groups and political parties.
According to PunchNG, the fresh policy will affect popular pages that talk about elections, entertainment, other topics, and henceforth, all posts on Facebook, Instagram will get stamped with its origin. For example, a Facebook account that resides in SA but targets Nigerian voters will have all its posts labeled with “Based in SA.” Users will then be able to scroll to read more information about the account.
