Social media platform, Facebook has updated its mobile app recently. Coming with the update, Facebook has added a specific tab dedicated solely for gaming on the mobile app. With the new dedicated tab, where users can explore various gaming content.
In doing so, Facebook is hoping to help its users find games and streamers to watch. The new tab is there to help you find and play something new with your friends or catch up on the last esports match.
With this move, it is obvious that it is a further attempt from Facebook to compete with the likes of YouTube and Twitch. Facebook has also added the dedicated gaming hub tab to the sidebar as an option for the customisable navigation bar in the app.
This new hub will serve as a central place to play Facebook’s Instant Games as well as discover new games. From the gaming tab, you can watch gaming videos from streamers. Also, you can join and connect with gaming groups that are already on Facebook.

Facebook has more gaming plans
Additionally, apart from this new gaming hub, Facebook is also beta-testing a standalone Facebook Gaming App for Android. According to the company, the standalone gaming app will offer even more features than the current tab.
“As we learn from the community, we’ll test new experiences in the tab, add more types of gaming content, and improve our content recommendations over time… We’re getting feedback from the gaming community as we consider further rollout plans.”
The company is rolling out the new gaming tab gradually to its users. The rollout is not going for everyone at once. If you do not see the gaming tab in your main navigation bar, you can find it by going to the Bookmarks menu.
