DStv Ghana prices reduced after talks with Government

Dstv Ghana Prices Reduced, Dstv Ghana Prices After months of public pressure over pay-TV costs, the Government of Ghana has secured a breakthrough deal with MultiChoice Ghana, bringing significant relief to DStv subscribers.

At a press briefing in Accra on September 29, 2025, the Minister of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, confirmed that new subscription arrangements will take effect from October 1, 2025, giving customers up to 50% more value for the same price.

How the Deal Was Reached

The move follows direct negotiations between the government and MultiChoice, after widespread concerns that DStv subscription fees had become unaffordable for many Ghanaian households.

According to Sam George, the agreement ensures that subscribers are not just paying less in real terms, but also receiving far more content than before. He described the outcome as “over and above” initial expectations.

What Subscribers Will Get

Depending on the bouquet, customers will now enjoy between 33% and 50% more value without any extra charges.

  • Padii (GHC59): Upgraded to the Second Bouquet (GHC99) with 35 additional channels.
  • Second Bouquet (GHC99): Upgraded to Family Bouquet (GHC190) with 19 more channels.
  • Family (GHC190): Upgraded to Compact (GHC380) with 22 more channels plus live football.
  • Compact (GHC380): Upgraded to Compact Plus (GHC500) with 12 more channels.
  • Compact Plus (GHC570): Upgraded to Premium (GHC865) with 18 more channels.
  • Premium (GHC865): Retains full access but now includes entry into draws for fully paid trips to watch English Premier League matches.

Sam George stressed that these benefits apply to both new and existing customers, with no bouquet restrictions.

A Win for Consumers

Government officials say the agreement marks a milestone in their efforts to ensure fairness and affordability in the digital services sector. For subscribers, it means more channels, more sports, and more entertainment — all at no additional cost.

With the changes, Ghana becomes the first country in Africa where MultiChoice has rolled out such a significant value increase without a price hike.

The deal is expected to ease household budgets, boost satisfaction among customers, and reaffirm the government’s stance on keeping digital services within reach of ordinary Ghanaians.
