Huawei Forecasts 10 Tech Megatrends for Intelligent World 2035

Huawei has released two major white papers: the Intelligent World 2035 Report and the Global Digitalization and Intelligence Index 2025 Report. Both are designed to guide global discussions on digital transformation and intelligent technologies.

Speaking in a launch video titled “Explore the Unknown. Shape the Future,” Huawei’s Executive Director of the Board, David Wang, said the reports offer a roadmap for how AI and emerging technologies will transform industries such as education, healthcare, finance, manufacturing, and energy over the next decade.

“Every leap forward in civilization has been paired with technological exploration,” Wang said. “Generative AI is opening up possibilities we couldn’t imagine before. We must keep looking forward to build a more intelligent world.”

10 Tech Megatrends for 2035

The Intelligent World 2035 Report outlines ten megatrends Huawei believes will define the coming decade:

  1. Artificial General Intelligence (AGI): The biggest driver of transformation, achieved by merging AI with the physical world.
  2. AI Agents: Evolving from execution tools into decision-making partners that transform industries.
  3. Human-AI Programming: Shifting software development to AI-assisted coding, freeing humans to focus on design and creativity.
  4. Natural Interaction: Moving beyond GUIs to multimodal interfaces—voice, gestures, and full sensory experiences.
  5. AI-Driven Services: Apps evolving into interconnected service nodes controlled by AI agents.
  6. Autonomous Vehicles: Level 4+ autonomy making cars mobile “third spaces.”
  7. Next-Gen Computing: A 100,000-fold increase in global computing capacity by 2035 through breakthroughs in semiconductors, processes, and architectures.
  8. AI Storage Demands: Storage requirements rising 500x, with AI data making up over 70% of global storage.
  9. Agentic Internet: 9 billion people connecting with 900 billion AI agents, reshaping the internet.
  10. AI in Energy Systems: Data centers consuming 1.5 trillion kWh annually by 2035, with AI managing renewable grids to push wind and solar to 50% of the global energy mix.

Huawei’s report predicts AI will help prevent 80% of chronic diseases through proactive healthcare, and that over 90% of homes in China could have intelligent robots by 2035. Businesses are expected to use AI across decision-making and production, with productivity gains of up to 60%.

Global Digitalization and Intelligence Index 2025

The second report, the Global Digitalization and Intelligence Index (GDII), provides a quantitative framework to evaluate digital economies. Built on the concept of “digital production factors” (data, ICT talent, and intelligent technologies), GDII measures ICT infrastructure, skills, connectivity, computing capacity, and innovation ecosystems.

Huawei says the index will help policymakers identify strengths and weaknesses in national digital economies and create better-targeted industry policies in response to AI-driven disruption.

AI for Good and AI for All

Both reports emphasize principles like AI for All and AI for Good to ensure future intelligent systems remain people-centered, equitable, and beneficial across societies.

Looking Ahead: HUAWEI CONNECT 2025

Huawei will dive deeper into these themes at HUAWEI CONNECT 2025, themed “All Intelligence.” The event will take place from September 18–20, 2025, at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center and will feature new digital infrastructure products, industry-specific solutions, and developer tools.
