Facebook Updates Algorithm to Let Users Control Video Feed

Facebook Updates Algorithm, facebook Algorithm Facebook is giving users more control over the videos they see with its latest algorithm update, aimed at making the platform more personal, interactive, and user-driven.

The update changes how Reels and video recommendations appear on users’ feeds, focusing more on their interests, viewing habits, and interactions — rather than just popularity or engagement metrics.

More Personalized Video Experience

With the new algorithm, Facebook says it wants to make Reels and video discovery “feel more natural and relevant.” The platform will now prioritize content from creators and topics users interact with most, while also providing tools to fine-tune what appears in their feed.

Users can now:

  • See videos liked or shared by their friends more prominently.
  • Use improved “Show More” or “Show Less” options to train the algorithm.
  • Explore content suggestions powered by AI, designed to match individual preferences.

Smarter Discovery, Friendlier Engagement

Facebook is also rolling out friend bubbles, which let users see which of their friends liked a reel or post. Tapping the bubble starts a private chat, helping people connect over shared interests.

In addition, AI-powered search suggestions now appear under select Reels, allowing users to explore related videos without leaving the player — a feature designed to make discovery faster and more fun.

Keeping It Social

Meta says these updates are part of its ongoing effort to make Facebook more about people and shared experiences. The company believes the algorithm should enhance, not replace, the human connections that built the platform in the first place.

This latest update continues Facebook’s broader strategy of balancing personalization with social connection — helping users see what matters most to them while keeping the focus on community and conversation.
