Xiaomi is still persisting to cement its name as one the most formidable smartphone companies in the world. The company seems to be very ambitious, especially with its flagship smartphones. They’ve launched the first flagship device for 2019 — the Xiaomi Mi 9 — and its specs looks like it’s going to be a very good competitor to many phones in its range, especially the Huawei Mate 20.
The Xiaomi M 9 runs on Qualcomm‘s new Snapdragon 855 processor, supported by a RAM of 6GB, 8GB and the highest variant having 12GB. The supporting internal storage of the phone is in two variations — 128GB and 256GB.
It possesses a triple-camera system with the highest camera having a 48 MP sensor.
TNW suggests that this year’s Xiaomi Mi 9’s specs, on paper, has all the markings of becoming a great competitor to Huawei’s last year feature-loaded Mate 20 Pro.

Details of Xiaomi Mi 9’s special features
The Xiaomi comes with an-all glass case with a “holographic design” on its back. This design gives it a rainbow effect.
On its front side, the Xiaomi company used a “Dot Drop” notch for the Mi 9. There is also an on-screen fingerprint sensor.
Carrying three cameras on its back, certainly, that’s one most noticeable aspect of the spec sheet. Seeing the 48 MP sensor among the triple-camera setup may raise your eyebrows but hold on just yet. The 48 MP sensor is the same Sony IMX586 sensor that the Honor View 20 used.
Technically, there is a catch. The catch is the photos taken with 48 MP lens will have 0.8-micron sized pixels, and they will be a little noisy.
For better photo results, the 12 MP lens is recommended. The 12 MP sensor has a 1.6-micron pixel.
The one reason why the Xiaomi Mi 9 is compared to the Huawei Mate 20 Pro is that the latter successfully demonstrated the use of triple cameras. So, it is Xiaomi’s turn to prove they ca do better with a triple-camera system.
Xiaomi opted for the new chipset from top mobile processor company Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 855, for the Mi 9. This phone is one of the first devices to come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor. The chip is Qualcomm’s first 7nm processor, therefore, you can expect the Mi 9 outdo the Mate 20 Pro’s Kirin 980 chip from Huawei.
On the battery side, the Mi 9 has a smaller battery of 3,300 mAh as in comparison with the Huawei Mate 20 Pro’s 4,000 mAh. It has support for a 27W wired fast charging and 20W wireless fast charging.
How much it’s going to cost?
The version of the Xiaomi Mi 9 with 6GB+128GB is priced at $446 (₵2330). The 8GB+128GB version will go for $490 (₵2450) and the ultimate 12GB+256GB version (transparent edition) will cost $595 (2975).
The prices seems fair with respect to the phone’s specs, but at the time of writing, it is available in China only. It will be out on the world market in a couple months.
