Vū-Mē content sharing app live at Vodafone Ghana Music Awards

User-generated content sharing platform Vū-Mē, available for free on IOS and Android, has partnered with the 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards to stream the May 18th awards presentation to application users.The mobile video sharing app with a focus on live streaming, music, performances and HD content, launched in December, 2018 creating a new outlet for social influencers and creators to share content and gain revenue directly.

Ghanaian hip-hop artist and multiple Ghana Music Award-winner Sarkodie, a pro-account holder on the Vū-Mē platform, has gained hundreds of users and followers on the platform through direct promotion he’s provided on the new application to his extensive global fanbase. The synergy with Sarkodie and his fanbase on the platform translated to the Vū-Mē partnership with the 20th anniversary Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

Streaming on Vū-Mē began on May 11th with the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards kick off celebration VGMA eXperience Concert held in Accra’s Independence Square. Ghana’s singer, songwriter and actress Efya is slated to appear on the 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards and is also a pro account holder on Vū-Mē who has introduced her worldwide network of fans to the new social media platform.

Performers at the VGMA eXperience Concert 5/11 included Vū-Mē account holders Stonebwoy, Samini and Sarkodie who along with Shatta Wale performed for the first time ever together as artists on the same stage.

Streaming the awards program on Vū-Mē, allows audiences outside of Ghana to view the awards program who may not have access to the country-wide telecast on major TV networks. After the awards conclude, users can relive the experience through program content hosted on Vū-Mē.

A start-up venture founded by Leonard Pimentel and Lotus Research, the Vū-Mē mobile video sharing app is the next generation of media uploading, providing the user with relevant content delivered in a chronological timeline in high definition that maintains the interests of the creator, allowing them to monetize their content and profit from the exposure. Ad revenue on pro-account content is shared directly and equitably with content creators with transparent analytics related to real-time ad clicks.

Mr. Pimentel will be on location in Accra for the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards presentation and Vū-Mē platform streaming.  He further explains the intention behind the application by stating,  “We are doing what we can to remove the barriers by allowing people to control their view. We do see that integration of social commerce with your media, your intellectual property as a way for you economically to be able to earn a living.”

Available on Apple IOS and Android, users are able to download the application for free from the Apple App Store or Google Play.

The Vodafone Ghana Music Awards take place Saturday, May 18, 2019, at the Accra International Conference Centre.

Leonard Pimentel

Prior to Lotus Research, Mr. Pimentel was an Investment Advisor for Morgan Stanley Wealth Management while attending an executive master’s program at The Wharton School. Prior to The Wharton School, Leonard led the technological innovation and commercialization for a startup in 1998 to achieve an IPO in one year after his arrival. Technologically, he created a turnkey solution – the first RFID technology for the USPS and infrastructure devices utilizing a propriety protocol to track the flow of letter. As the head of R&D, he developed and commercialized global innovations such as an indoor location algorithm without GPS to track employees and vehicles and other products that have produced technology solutions for the world’s most prominent Fortune-50 brands, including Wal-Mart, Ford, American Eagle, Daimler AG, P&G, and the U.S. Postal Service. Mr. Pimentel holds 13 patents in the areas of wireless and mobile technologies. He also was the IP consultant to assess valuations and commercialization of wireless patents for the 3rd largest OEM global smartphone manufacturer.

Leonard Pimentel also functioned as a researcher in nuclear engineering and photonics where he developed the first optical detection system leveraging lasers and microwaves to detect gamma radiated events for the National Ignition Fusion (NIF) in Livermore, California as part of a thesis for UC Berkeley Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Employed at IBM Research Triangle Park, He was one of the network researchers developing early ATM technology and at Siemens Pacesetter on the Advanced Research team developing state-of-the-art diagnostic systems for surgical centers during open heart surgery.

Mr. Pimentel has a MS degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Management of Technology – a dual program between Wharton and Penn Engineering. He also worked on a Master’s Thesis in photonics at the University of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo/UC Berkeley’s Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Leonard’s undergraduate degree is in Electrical Engineering and holds a 5th-degree black belt in Japanese samurai and ninja martial arts.
