Vodafone Ghana joins Uber to give rides with no data charges

Vodafone Ghana has just joined hands with ride-hailing service, Uber to give Vodafone customers some convenience especially during this festive season. The partnership will allow Vodafone subscribers to request Uber rides even when they don’t have enough data bundles.

Uber drivers who are also Vodafone subscribers will also benefit from this partnership. Aside from requesting Uber rides without data, Vodafone customers will also enjoy discounted rides (30% off a trip per month).

The Director of Consumer Business Unit at Vodafone, Pushpinder Gujral, remarked that the partnership “will offer great convenience to our customers particularly during this festive season.”

He added, “At Vodafone Ghana, we remain committed to finding innovative ways to bring new and rich experiences, which are rare, to our customers. This initiative will bring great relief to Uber’s partner-drivers who sometimes run out of data, whilst using the app. The challenges associated with not having data when one urgently needs to request an Uber have also been eliminated.”

Uber Ghana’s Manger, Jessica Poku, noted that Uber remains “committed to driving down costs for our driver-partners to help improve overall earnings, and our partnership with Vodafone will help make this happen.”
