Social Media Week 2020 Nigeria:
Social Media Week 2020 began on Monday, 24 February 2020 at the Landmark Event Centre in Lagos. Themed “Africa’s largest tech and media gathering,” by Business Insider, the four-day conference will create a platform for lots of visitors to rub minds with popular brands.
Co-Founder of SMW, Ngozi Odita had this to say, “Our stories serve as a reference point and are integral to our identity as Africans. The current digital paradigm has allowed for the amplification of our stories and enabled us to have a tremendous impact beyond our communities, our countries and the continent’s borders. It is also the case, that with this impact comes great responsibility and an obligation to use our collective influence to move Africa forward.”
SMW 2020 website added, “The current digital paradigm has connected us as Africans and enabled us to do more in business, in government and in our own lives. However, in a hyper-connected mobile-first world, human interaction and IRL experiences often take a backseat. This happens at the detriment of consumers and the communities we are looking to engage and empower.”
“During SMW Lagos 2020 we’ll discuss the importance of putting people and community at the forefront as marketers, creatives, policymakers and citizens. We’ll explore how reframing our approach to marketing and community engagement leads to more human-focused and immersive experiences that drive culture, shift perceptions and have a meaningful impact on us as individuals and collectively as Africans.”
