Snapchat seems to have fallen behind Instagram with respect to current user growth and features. Trying to catch up with Instagram, Snapchat is now testing a couple of features. Some of these features that are things that Instagram has already had for months.
These features are portrait mode, camera grid and a timer. This news comes from Jane Manchun Wong, app researcher. Wong shared on Twitter screenshots she took of the new Snapchat features.

Presently, portrait photos is the new craze – a really popular feature. And Snapchat is trying to bring this in vogue feature to its users as soon as possible.
A tweet from Jane Wong showed Snapchat’s new camera user interface. The app is placing these new functions on the right hand side.
Obviously, Snapchat is late with incorporating this feature in their app. Instagram introduced this same feature with its “Focus mode” back in April this year.
Also coming along, Snapchat may introduce the “Batch Capture”. This feature allows you to take and post most stories at a go. After selecting one photo, you press the “+” button to add more to the already selected ones. It might be useful for people that want to post multiple photos to a story or a group.
Another feature the company is working on is called ‘Charms’. It is going to be used to define your friendship with someone. You can assign a charm like “Birthday Twins” to group to tell that your birthdays fall within seven days of each other.
An instance is the screenshot below.
Noteworthy, these features are still being tested. And there’s no date when they will be officially released onto the main Snapchat app. We will keep you posted with new updates on this.
