Apple has introduced several changes on its iOS 14. One of such changes that got its users excited was allowing third-party apps to be set as default email and browser apps.
App developers would now have to upgrade their apps to support the new functionality. In the case of wanting to use Gmail as the default Mail app, users would have to install the latest version of the Gmail app (version 6.0.200825) from the App Store.
How To Set Gmail As The Default Mail App on iOS 14
- Install the latest version of the Gmail app.
- Go to Settings on your iPhone/iPad
- Search for the Gmail app with the search bar
- Tap Gmail > Default Mail App > Gmail.
Note: These steps are only available on iOS 14
