The smartphone market is getting really rigorous by the day. Xiaomi is not left out of this competition. The company is rapidly trying to overtake the market with its budget device policy. They pushing low budget smartphones with high-end features to take over the smartphone market. And they have done so well on the Indian and Chinese markets.

But, Xiaomi, sometimes, reduces the quality of some features to deliver those phones at amazing prices. Most often, such compromises are seen in the design and the camera as well. Another point which seems to be compromising is their annoying bloatware – pre-installed MIUI apps.

Anyway, what really is Bloatware on Xiaomi smartphones

Bloatware is simply term for unwanted software or app which a manufacturer includes in a new computer or mobile device. They could be unnecessary toolbars, games of questionable value. It isn’t only Xiaomi that does this, Samsung, HTC and others are also doing it.

The MIUI Hidden settings

Xiaomi has a hidden MIUI settings on its devices. This hidden settings makes it easy for developers to execute tasks that were complex before with few screen taps. An example is the Notification log. This was formerly difficult to access. With this hidden MIUI settings you can get rid of some pre-installed apps and some Android apps too (Google apps that come with the Android OS). The app interface of Xiaomi smartphones is divided into two – Android 7 and Android 8. Depending on the version of MIUI version installed on your Xiaomi smartphone you can choose either of Android versions.   Below is the steps in removing the Xiaomi bloatware.

Remove Xiaomi Bloatware using MIUI Hidden Settings:

  1. You’d first need to download the MIUI Hidden Settings app on PlayStore
  2. Open the MIUI hidden settings app
  3. Choose the Android version
  4. Tap on the Manage Applications
  5. Scroll over and tap on whichever app you want to remove from your device
  6. Tap on “Disable” or “Uninstall” option.
  7. Then Tap on “Disable app” in the pop-up
