RCS for Android

Great news for phone Android owners, RCS is now live for Android users:

Last month, Google revealed that it has begun to release RCS Chat, the replacement for SMS, as Android’s main texting platform, and from Monday, if you use an Android device on any carrier in America, you will be able to use it, even if you might have to update your Messages application and carrier settings.

RCS messaging is a step up from normal SMS as it supports read receipts, typing indicators and it is more suitable for group chats. Unlike Apple’s iMessage, however, RCS has no provision for end-to-end encryption, therefore you will have to use a 3rd-party app to send such a message.
