The Premium Passport Application Centre has been commissioned at the Accra Digital Centre by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This is part of the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring the establishment of additional passport offices in each region.
The move, which is intended to help address the usually cumbersome process associated with passport application in Ghana, is a collaboration between the Government of Ghana and international company, VFS Global.
For many Ghanaians, acquiring a passport comes with the need to travel outside their respective regions. For this reason, the Minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway assures of the ministry‘s commitment to see that additional passport offices are established in each region.
“It is against this backdrop that the ministry through the approval of cabinet has engaged the services of VFS Ghana Limited, a specialized business process outsourcing agency to provide front offices for receiving online passport application.” Shirley Ayorkor Botchway
Commenting further on the development, she said it is “aimed at providing the Ghanaian public with the option of improving with respect to online passport application in a seamless convenient manner”.
To use this passport service, applicants will go through the usual vetting and passport applications. They will fill the form online, be vetted and then be given an appointment date. Afterwards, all their data will be captured and then they will make a standard payment of Ghc50 or Ghc100 for premium services.
