“For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.”
-Ephesians 5:23-

Every organisation usually has a leadership chain. When it is broken by an employee, it mostly comes with grave consequences. Similarly in the family system, there is a chain of leadership placed by God for the smooth running of the home. It would be satanic for anyone to question the leadership role given to the man. God expects that just as the Church is subject to Jesus as the Head of the Church, the wife should be subject to the man as the head of the home.
When a woman allows her husband to fulfill his covenant role as the head, she has automatically given him the room to play his messianic role over her. Most times, the reason why the prayers of some husbands are ineffective on their wives is because they have not totally submitted themselves to him. They still hold back some part of themselves and in some cases, want to assume authority over their husbands.
The Scripture cannot be broken, and the commandment of God holds no “modern” or “ancient” version to it. During the early stages of our marriage, my health was challenged at a time. In the process of it, my husband caught a word in Ephesians 5:23 that made him realise that as a priest of the home, he didn’t need my faith for me to be healed. He understood that he could exercise his authority over me and I would be healed, so he did just that. He went to the hospital and asked the doctor to discharge me; that same day, I was healed. However, this would have been impossible if I had not submitted myself to him.
As a wife and a child of God, do not question your husband’s leadership role over you. Rather, work hand-in-hand with him; while you prayerfully allow him take the lead. Give your husband some space to exercise his God-ordained leadership role over you. For the men, remember that submission does not equal slavery. However, following the commandment to love your wife would always end in her submission to you. God’s commandments are not grievous, but if you will delightedly obey, the end result will be a successful family life. Receive grace for compliance in the name of Jesus Christ!
Remain Blessed!
