NCC educates stakeholders on significance of equipment type approval:
The Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, has started its regulatory activities this year with a workshop hosted lecture for its licenses and other important stakeholders in the Nigerian telecom industry on the relevance of type approval of telecoms equipment and other mobile and terminal devices.
The 1-day workshop went down in Ikeja Lagos recently to educate licensees on the need to comply with the extant industry type approval regulation. Talks at the forum concentrated on sensitizing the stakeholders on the importance of type approval of telecom equipment, especially the mobile genre, used by operators in the deployment of services.
According to NCC’s Director, Technical Standards and Network Integrity, Bako Wakil, the type approval is one of the main regulatory functions of NCC and a way for the commission to authenticate specifications, standards, and conformity of telecom equipment for use in the Nigerian telecom industry.
