The Nigerian Communications Commission has launched a nationwide cybersecurity awareness campaign for secondary schools in Nigeria. The campaign, which began in the Federal Capital Territory, is meant to sensitize secondary school kids on cyber-related crimes like cyberbullying, Internet fraud, identity theft and so on.

Speaking at the inauguration of the campaign, Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, Prof. Umar Danbatta revealed that the secondary school students would be equipped with the important info and knowledge on how to safeguard themselves from cybercriminals.

His words, “It is important to note that although the Internet provides countless opportunities for children. It also exposes them to potential harmful contents.

“Children and youths are the most active participants online via social network sites, making them potential victims of grooming, inappropriate content and exposure to unscrupulous actors and the likes.”
