The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) is prepared to aid the development of the tech ecosystem in Nigeria, according to NCC Vice Chairman, Prof. Umar Danbatta.
He disclosed that the development would enhance local content in the tech sector and every move to boost the ecosystem is set to be pondered upon at the “Maiden Edition of Emerging Telecoms Technologies Research and ICT Innovation Forum” in Lagos State.
Revealing the theme of the event to be “Developing Nigeria’s Tech Ecosystem; Imperative for Improving Local Content,” Prof Umar shared in a statement, “This is in line with the Commission’s commitment to promoting ICT innovation and investment opportunities and facilitating strategic collaboration and partnership.
“The forum presents a unique opportunity for NCC to bring together key players/actors in the Nigerian tech-ecosystem to deliberate and suggest policy, framework/strategy that can further develop the sector.
“It will thereby serve as a catalyst for improving local content in ICT/Telecommunication sector.”
He added that the meeting will go down for two days and will highlight the loophole in the ICT/Telecommunications industry to further tighten the bond between stakeholders and the NCC.
He also promised that there will a session to rub minds on the potential solution to every identified problem.
Those set to attend the forum include Mobile Network Operators (MNOs), Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and Technology hubs.
