MTN Ghana’s journey towards becoming a digital operator is fueled by very innovative ideas. The company has been investing a lot into these innovative ideas with the aim of expanding its digital portfolio and ultimately transforming itself into a digital operator.
One of such innovations is the MTN Ayoba app. MTN Ghana introduced the Ayoba app as an innovative messaging app, which allows non-smartphone users to communicate with smartphone users for free.  Though only smartphones users can install the app, non-smartphone users too can use the platform though they might not have the app. These non-smartphone users can receive messages from smartphone users on the MTN Ayoba app and they can send messages to the smartphone users too via SMS.

Also, MTN Ayoba can be used for making calls, sharing media, sharing voice messages, group chat and sharing your real-time location with your Ayoba contact list; and since MTN Ayoba is powered by MTN, you get to do this and more for free on the network.
Though millions of people are already enjoying the app, MTN has begun rolling out plans to turn into more than just a messaging app. They have now integrated into the app, Mobile Money services — which means that users can now send and receive money on the app.
The CEO of MTN Ghana, Selorm Adadevoh, also revealed that plans are underway to add onto the app several content options and embed sub-apps into it, so as to turn Ayoba into a super app.
