The smartphone camera wages on in 2019. Last year we saw a leaked patent pointing that LG wants to make a 16-lens setup. Recently, LG Electronics has announced the release of their V40 ThinQ, the smartphone with 5 cameras on February 7, 2019 in South Africa.
The LG V40 ThinQ possesses 5 camera, with three cameras on the back and two selfie cameras. For quick unlocking, the fingerprint scanner is positioned just below the rear cameras.
ITNewsAfrica says the LG V40 ThinQ will be released on February 7 in South Africa in partnership with Vodacom. And it will go for retail price of R12,499 (about ₵4,540) postpaid. For contract with Vodacom, that’ll be R599 (about ₵ 213)per month.

LG seems to be really ready for the camera fight, telling other makers to catch them if they can. The 3 cameras on the back include a 16MP, and two 12MP lenses. One of the 12MP lenses is a standard camera while the other 12MP is a telephoto snapper. The 16MP is an ultra-wide camera.

On the side of the two selfie cameras, there’s the 5MP (f/2.4, 90°) and an 8MP (f/1.9, 80°).
The V40 ThinQ is comes with a 6.4 inch OLED screen. Powering it is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and supported by a 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Not surprising though, is its fingerprint sensor and facial recognition features.
