Lagos State set to enforce ban on Gokada, MAX.ng, and ORide:

After weeks of rumors and months of battles between ride-hailing platforms and regulatory authorities, the Lagos State Government has officially announced the ban of all kinds of motorcycles and tricycles in the state. Gbenga Omotoso, the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, revealed at a recent press conference in Lagos.

According to him, the ban will be effective from February 1, 2020 and it will affect Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas like Apapa, Apapa-Iganmu, Yaba, Lagos Mainland, Surulere, Itire-Ikate, Coker-Aguda, Ikeja and so on. Opay, Gokada and the likes are not excluded.

His words, “After consultations with the stakeholders, the state security council, in compliance with the extant transport sector reform laws 2018 has decided to commence enforcement of the law which bans motorcycles and tricycles.”
