Joshua Otoo is a young Ghanaian entrepreneur and has created a mobile application that allows you to connected control your home gadgets remotely. The system created by this young man is called Smart Home System.
From wherever they are, the Smart Home System allows users to control their lighting systems, using just their smart phone. Users can also monitor the temperature and humidity levels in the house. Smoke, intrusions, gas leaks can also be detected by the use of the Smart Home System.
You can check the power consumption of electrical appliances in the house or offices as well.

Otoo speaking to Starr FM Online, he alluded that you wouldn’t need to rush to turn off your appliances even when there’s blackout. He instanced, “so let’s say you woke up and there is lights out, so you didn’t even bother to turn off your lights and appliances before leaving to work, and the light comes back afterwards, the system will notify you with all the lights and appliances that are on and you will be able to turn them off using the system from wherever you are.”
Last year, Joshua Otoo launched the Smart Home System’s prototype at the Innovation Week at Kofi Annan ICT Centre. Currently, the system has a few touches to finish.
Hopefully, it will pilot in January, 2019.
As at now, the app system is only compatible with WiFi connection. But Otoo revealed he is working on it to make it work via GSM as well. By early next year the app will be ready and available on the various mobile app markets.
