Do you wish your phone responded faster whenever you used it? In this article, I have highlighted some measures you can put in place to increase the speed rate of your Android smartphone.
1. Only keep apps you frequently use
Downloading a ton of apps just to be left unengaged in months or even years can impact the performance of your smartphone because some of these apps may hoard system resources as it sits in the background idle. To increase the speed rate of your Android smartphone, uninstall apps that have been left unused for long periods to free up more space for a smooth operation of your device.
2. Use lite versions of apps
Some apps such as Facebook and messenger are quite heavy applications that may take a toll on low-end phones with small RAM and storage space. Therefore, to increase the speed rate of your Android smartphone, search for alternative lite versions of such apps on the Google Play Store.

3. Update apps
Skipping updates at both system and application level may account for the decline of responsiveness in Android phones. This is because Original Equipment Makers push updates to these devices same as app developers to fix bugs and tighten the security of our devices and apps respectively for a hiccup-free experience.
In the event of an unresponsive device, restarting it may help boost its performance back up again hence, increase the speed rate of your Android smartphone. This quick-fix solves a lot of issues within the phone.
5. Install third-party launchers
Installing lightweight launchers can boost the overall response times of apps and the User Interface. Some launchers may contain several ads and unnecessary additions that may contribute to the overall slack in performance. There are several lightweight and minimalist launchers you can use so do well to check them out.
6. Decrease Animations
This is one trick I love most. Android by default have long animations in its User Interface; however, one can decrease this to get a very smooth transition to increase the speed rate of your Android smartphone. To decrease animations:
- Make sure developer options are enabled. If they’re not, go to Settings>About phone, then tap on Build number several times to enable it
- Go to Settings> Developer options and scroll down to Window animation scale, Transition animation scale, and Animator duration scale.
- Tap on each of the animation options and choose “5x” for each of the animation transition types
I hope with these set of tricks and instructions, you would be able to make the best out of your Android smartphone. In an event where all these do not seem to show any significant difference, then that might be a warning notifying you of its end of life.
