This has been a year which saw Facebook taking hits from many directions. The company has had to deal with damaging issues in regards to user’s privacy, and also, a fall in profits.
More recently, the Facebook photo bug exposed users’ photos to apps — further damaging the company’s reputation.
The bug, which specifically affected photos on your Facebook stories, allowed apps that had permission to certain photos to also gain access to other photos from your account.
You can find out if your photos were affected by clicking here for some background information about the bug. Around the middle of the page, it will show whether you were affected or not by the bug just as shown in the image below.
If you happen to be affected by the bug, this is what you should consider doing:
1. Log in to apps where you’ve shared Facebook photos to verify what has been exposed.
To conclude, data breaches happen often. And since they are occurrences you cannot predict, it’s important to only share photos that should they be compromised, would not be much of an issue for you.
