Since a lot of offices are implementing the use of new communication tools for their work, this move seems apt for the moment.
These communication tools are efficient especially for the teams, thus, the work of these teams become more effective.
Slack is an American cloud-based set of proprietary team collaboration software tools and online services, developed by Slack Technologies. Slack began as an internal tool for Stewart Butterfield’s company Tiny Speck during the development of Glitch, a defunct online game. “Slack” is an acronym for “Searchable Log of All Conversation and Knowledge.”
Launched on Friday, July 19, 2018, the Accra Slack Community is one of the latest community groups. The community was launched at the Stanbic Bank Incubator. Just like how Slack itself works, this community is going to be used to build local communities and meet up groups.
In Africa, Ghana is the second country to form a Slack community. Slack communities are local meet-up groups that seek to share and spread Slack. These communities are usually run by dedicated organisers.
Thus, the organisers of the Ghana/Accra Slack community also seek to share the Slack passion with local users.
The Ghana/Accra Slack Community will be the place to connect, share, and create the future of work with other Slack developers, designers, and product managers.
The community is also a place for new Slack users to learn about the Slack platform, its products and development tools. What local companies and developers are doing with Slack will also be shared in the community.
At the launch, the organisers discussed activities the community would be embarking on in the next few months. The community also looks to engage with the local communities to share the benefits of the Ghana/Accra Slack Community.
Interested persons can log on to https://slackcommunity.com/accra/ to sign up for the community.
