A young Ghanaian cloud startup, Jumeni Technologies, has launched a cloud-based software for optimising the operations of the waste management industry. Jumeni, which is specialised in cloud-based field service management solutions, designed the new platform to increase field workers’ efficiency.

The platform is also built to digitise data collection and offer access to more efficient payment options, thereby improving customer service. Jumeni has developed field apps for the platform. With the apps, all the field workers need to do is connect to the office systems. This improves accuracy and reduces paper-based processes.

This waste management software concept comes from the founders’ working with waste companies. Eyram Amedzor, Emmanuel Oduro, and Kevin Gawo founded Jumeni in 2018. The three participated and graduated from the MEST Africa entrepreneurial training program.

Jumeni has tested the waste management software with companies operating out in Kaneshie and Tema. The test saw good results. The operations were more efficient and there was an increase in revenue as well for the companies.

Since Jumeni’s payment software is cloud-based, cash payments processing in the field is more efficient. It also allows customers to pay to the companies directly via Mobile Money and payment cards. Personalised services from the companies for their customers can also be accessed from the platform.

To make operations more efficient, Jumeni provides the field workers with apps that work on any mobile device.

Currently, Jumeni is only available in Ghana but has plans of extending its service to Kenyans and the Nigerian market. Soon other African markets will have a taste of this new waste management cloud software.

CEO’s remarks

CEO Eyram Amedzor stated, “We believe software has a role to play in keeping our environment clean and sustainable. The waste sector is one of the biggest and most important industries but has seen few advancements in technology. This is because waste management is complex. People, processes, and technology must work seamlessly for these companies to effectively optimize their productivity, customer service, and revenue.

That’s why we designed a comprehensive platform to specifically address needs across waste management organizations, and believe we can accommodate any waste and recycling business.”
