Fees for the Ghana passport have been increased. Increment of the passport fees has been approved by the Ghanaian parliament and it takes effect from February 1, 2020.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, fees for the booklets with 32 pages will now cost GHS 100. The newly introduced booklet with 48 pages will also cost GHS 150, and that is for the regular procedure passport.
Same way, expedited services for the 32-paged passport will now cost GHS 150. The 48-paged Ghana passport from expedited services will also cost GHS 200.
For the initiated, the process of getting a Ghana passport previously cost GHS 50 for regular and the expedited or express was GHS 100.
This increment will surely be met with disapprovals from Ghanaians as the increment came unexpectedly, contrary to a previous promise by the Foreign Affairs Minister, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, saying the government was working towards fees reduction of the Ghana passport.
However, there is still a day to go for this to take effect. You can be quick to start your passport registration now.
