In this month, Ghana will host the first-ever Data Science Summit — the IndabaX Ghana. The event is going to take place at the Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT Centre in Accra.
Date scheduled for the summit is April 25, and it will run through to April 27, 2019. The Summit is themed “The Promise of Data Science for Economic Transformation”. The Ghana Data Summit 2019 is being organised by Ghanaian-based analytics startup, Wave-2 Analytics.
Wave-2 Analytics is organising this event in collaboration with Deep Learning Indaba, with support from Google and Microsoft. Other institutions supporting the event are Python Ghana, BACE GROUP, and the Dept. of Statistics and Actuarial Science (University of Ghana).
The Summit aims to increase the awareness and capacity building efforts in data science and analytics to Ghana. It includes data mining, machine learning, and artificial learning.
Program line-up for the Data Science Summit 2019
At the Summit, there will be a series of lectures, panel discussions and training sessions (tutorials).
Day 1: Lectures will be on Data Management and Business Analytics.
Day 2: Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.
Day 3: On the last day, there will be hands-on tutorials on what was discussed the previous two days.
Other things to be discussed at the Summit include best practices regarding data collection and management as well as machine intelligence. Experts will discuss these with illustrations with the right technology to ensure successful analytical product delivery.

The Ghana Data Science Summit 2019 is open to all — students, researchers, industry practitioners and leaders. Anyone interested in learning and applying data science in their professional lives is also welcomed.
