Following the announcement that people without passports and birth certificates will not be allowed to register for the Ghanacard, a lot of controversial concerns were raised.
Following these concerns, the National Identification Authority (NIA) has announced that no Ghanaian will be excluded from the Ghana card registration.
According to the Authority, measures are being put in place to help register individuals who do not have either a birth certificate or a passport.
Again, the NIA has promised to ensure that only non Ghanaians will be made not to register.
Executive Director, Prof. Ken Agyeman Attafuah, also stated that the National Identification Authority will not let technology oppress or exclude anyone either.
“We’ll also not let the fact of not having documentation by way of birth certificate or a passport exclude any Ghanaian but we’ll do all within our power to exclude every person who is not a Ghanaian who will seek to register for the Ghana card,” he said.
This will ensure that there is some level of peace among all parties including the minority in parliament over the modus operandi of the registration process.
