Ghanaian agritech startup, Farmerline has been listed in TIME’s annual list of the 100 best inventions. This company was recognised through its innovative proprietary software called Mergdata.
This Mergdata software is a web and mobile application that is powering over 200,000 farmers across 13 African countries. The software has a couple of uses: farmer profiling, mapping, certification, traceability, messaging, and digital payments.
It is being used by over 60 organisations to qualify and provide farmers with the necessary resources they need to increase productivity and profit.
Emmanuel O. Addai, the CTO of Farmerline said: “This is an endorsement of our avowed principle to use technology to solve the everyday problems of farmers across Africa. Kudos to our dedicated engineers, past and present, who have supported the vision all these years”.
Established in Ghana, Farmerline has a focus on making farmers earn lasting profit through direct efforts and partnerships. It has digital tools for this mandate. It also has a network of well-trained field agents that provide input financing and training to over 12,000 farmers.
