Facebook has recently rolled out a new tool that lets users on the platform upload their photos and videos to Google Photos. The tool will be available in Ireland from now but will roll out across the world in 2020.
Other features are also set to be rolled out in the future by the social networking giant. One of these features is data portability, which probably is copying and transferring your Facebook data to other storage platforms.
Though this seems a good move, there are still risks and Facebook acknowledged that in its blog post. Facebook claimed it has “put measures in place to mitigate these risks.” These measures include extra authentication steps to ensure only the owner of the account can transfer a file.
This project is from Facebook’s Data Transfer Project. Apple, Google, Microsoft, and Twitter are also part of this project.
