The African Telecommunications Union (ATU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ericsson to fasten the process of releasing technology across Africa.
According to ATU, the MoU will aid the growth of ICT and create a solid foundation for social and economic progress in the continent.
This recent agreement established that the 2 organisations are aiming for the promotion of global and regional coordination plus the unification of spectrum usage to aid economies of scale while maximising the affordability for every user in Africa.

John Omo, Secretary-General of the ATU, had this to say, “Our collaboration with Ericsson is geared towards connecting, innovating, and transforming the continent into a knowledge economy.”
Fadi Pharaon, President of Ericsson Middle East and Africa, added, “Our collaboration with the ATU will focus on spectrum management strategies.¬†Leveraging our global experience working on spectrum management, we aim to share global best practices that will ensure efficient use of scarce resources and allocation of new spectrum.
